As part of the Operational Research team, you will work closely with a talented and innovative team to complete high-quality professional research projects on various matters including crime trends, policing practice, and preventative programs.

As part of the Operational Research team, you will work closely with a talented and innovative team to complete high-quality professional research projects on various matters including crime trends, policing practice, and preventative programs.

You will use existing research and various quantitative and qualitative methods to guide practice in an intelligence environment. The outcomes and findings from your work will inform policing practices and assist to improve community safety.

As part of this role, you’ll also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support operational policing and key QPS projects and initiatives.

Your Key Accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

Provide high quality, well-researched advice to senior research officer and senior management in relation to QPS intelligence and operational priorities.

Perform project and research tasks aimed at the investigation, analysis and critical evaluation of intelligence led policing issues.

Contribute as part of a multi-disciplinary team to the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of Whole of Government strategies and QPS strategic and operational plans.

Produce timely and accurate information to be used for the purpose of evaluating programs, providing a basis for planning and policy development, and the assessment of legislative impacts on QPS intelligence priorities

Consult and liaise effectively with other areas of the QPS and relevant Government departments and non-government organisations, as appropriate, and represent the QPS on inter-agency forums.

Prepare and present written reports, briefings, evaluations, and executive correspondence to senior management, key stakeholders and other diverse

audiences.

Role Requirements

Mandatory

Successful applicant/s will be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.

Qualification

Possession of a degree in from a recognized tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications is mandatory, with Law, Criminology or Criminal Justice degrees preferred.

Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience

Experience with data analysis and visualisation (such as R, Jasp, Excel, PowerBI, etc.) is desirable.

Applicants are advised that travel interstate and intrastate may be required.
