Job Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and highly organized Legal Assistant to join our esteemed Litigation team, operating remotely. This pivotal role requires a candidate with excellent time management abilities, an acute attention to detail, and a robust understanding of legal procedures. Your contributions will be vital in delivering proactive support to our attorneys through effective case file management, schedule coordination, and the precise handling of legal documentation and court filings.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee case calendars, ensuring timely scheduling of hearings and tracking of critical deadlines.
Organize meetings, depositions, and court appearances efficiently.
Prepare and draft essential legal documents, including initial disclosures and bankruptcy proofs of claims.
Assist in discovery processes, document production, and the assembly of hearing notebooks for motions for summary judgment (MSJs).
Maintain an orderly collection of trial materials, such as exhibits and trial notebooks.
Ensure accurate and timely filing of pleadings in both state and federal courts, adhering to all relevant deadlines.
Sustain and organize case files to guarantee that documents are current and accessible.
Support attorneys in trial preparations, including the organization of exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
Coordinate logistical aspects to ensure all necessary materials are prepared and available.
Handle general administrative tasks, including managing phone calls, correspondence, and scheduling meetings.
Process incoming mail for distribution among team members and assist with expense reporting.
Provide notary services as needed or obtain certification upon hire.
Act as a key communicator between attorneys, clients, courts, and opposing counsel, ensuring clear and timely updates regarding case progress and deadlines.
Required Skills
Demonstrated experience as a Legal Assistant or in a related role.
In-depth knowledge of court filing systems and legal documentation requirements.
Proficient in calendaring software and legal case management tools.
Strong organizational and multitasking prowess.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to precision.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar capacity.
Preferred educational background includes an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
