We are currently partnering with a cutting-edge, U.S.-based derivatives exchange and clearing organization to support the addition of a Regulatory Attorney. This organization operates within the federal commodity derivatives regulatory framework as a CFTC-regulated DCM and DCO, with a focus on innovative and emerging market structures.
This role will work closely with Legal, Compliance, and Markets teams to support regulatory strategy and legal advisory across exchange and clearing operations. The position is well-suited for an attorney with experience in derivatives, exchange or clearing regulation, or broader financial market structure, and offers direct engagement with regulators including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The role also supports legal analysis tied to evolving areas such as event contracts and prediction markets, along with broader regulatory and policy initiatives.
Overview:
- Provide day-to-day legal support to Legal, Compliance, and Markets teams
- Advise on the application of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA), CFTC, and SEC regulations to exchange and clearing operations
- Analyze legal and regulatory issues related to CFTC-regulated prediction markets and event contracts
- Draft and review contract self-certifications and other regulatory filings
- Draft and negotiate participation agreements
- Prepare comment letters, no-action requests, and interpretive submissions
- Respond to regulatory inquiries, examinations, and information requests
- Monitor regulatory developments and enforcement trends impacting market structure
- Advise on exchange and clearinghouse rulebook development and updates
- Collaborate with Compliance and Surveillance teams on regulatory matters
- Support the development and enhancement of internal policies and procedures
- Assist with broader legal strategy, including support of litigation matters
