Real Estate Paralegal (Part time) Jobs in Dedham, MA at Confidential

Job Overview

About the Role

We are seeking a Real Estate Paralegal to support our Senior Paralegal and attorneys across a high-volume residential transaction practice. The defining feature of this role is range: you should be able to open a brand-new file in the morning, review title before lunch, and spend the afternoon clearing post-closing items on a deal that closed three weeks ago — moving between those modes without losing your place in any of them.

We are looking for someone who can ultimately carry a file from intake through final policy. You’ll work alongside a Senior Paralegal who can teach the stages you haven’t done yet, but the goal is a paralegal who understands the full arc of a transaction and can own one end to end rather than handling a single slice and passing it along.

A note on who we are: We’re a firm that values doing good work above all else. That means attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and clients who know they can rely on us. We also happen to be good people to work with, but if it ever comes down to a choice between “fun” and “right,” we choose right. If you’re someone who takes pride in work and wants to be part of a team that does the same, you’ll fit here.

What You’ll Do

  • Open new files — Handle intake, conflict checks, contract review for key dates and terms, ordering title and survey, opening escrow, and setting up the file and closing checklist.
  • Title review — Examine title commitments, searches, and abstracts; identify and flag exceptions, encumbrances, liens, easements, and chain-of-title issues for attorney review.
  • Draft title commitments and related title documents; prepare and track requirements needed to clear to close.
  • Support the Senior Paralegal on complex transactions — document preparation, checklist management, coordination with lenders, brokers, surveyors, and opposing counsel.
  • Post-closing — Handle recording and recording confirmations, payoff verification, release tracking, final policy issuance, disbursement follow-up, and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Manage multiple active files simultaneously, tracking deadlines and contingencies across deals at different stages.
  • Move fluidly between stages — shifting from opening a new file to post-closing cleanup and back as the pipeline demands, and stepping into any point of a transaction when a deal needs to keep moving or a colleague is out.

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • [2]+ years of real estate paralegal or title experience (title company, closing agency, or law firm)
  • Working knowledge of title examination and commitment preparation
  • Experience handling files at multiple stages — intake through post-closing — rather than a single specialized function
  • Familiarity with real estate closing documents and the post-closing lifecycle
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with deadline-driven work
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities without losing track of open items
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and real estate closing software

Preferred

  • Paralegal certificate or associate/bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with [closing software, eclosing]
  • Notary commission, or willingness to obtain one
  • Familiarity with MA, RI & NH recording practices and local title standards

Join us in this rewarding role where your expertise will directly contribute to successful real estate transactions while supporting the broader legal team. We value proactive individuals who thrive on collaboration and precision—help us shape a seamless legal process that benefits clients and stakeholders alike!
