Arnall Golden Gregory LLP (“AGG”), an Am Law 200 law firm with offices in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal in the Atlanta office who will provide high-level paralegal support to attorneys in the firm’s Real Estate department with experience working closely with low-income housing tax credits, affordable housing and other real estate transactions with financing from entities such as the Urban Residential Finance Authority of the City of Atlanta, the Atlanta Housing Opportunity, Inc.,
the Department of Housing and Urban Development and state tax credit agencies. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a paralegal with heavy emphasis on real estate transactions in a law firm or in the real estate industry.
Position Reports to: Legal Support Manager and Real Estate Practice Group Co-Chairs
Overall Responsibilities:
Primary duties will include, but are not limited, to the following:
Review title commitments, title documents and surveys to identify objections and for compliance
Review zoning and environmental reports for property compliance
Interact directly with Title Agent and Surveyor to facilitate revisions of title and survey as part of due diligence in closing work
Maintain due diligence of corporate and transactional documents
Organize documentation for financing and government review submissions
Draft real estate acquisition closing documents
Draft entity formation documents, such as articles of incorporation, and articles of organization, and operating agreements
Draft consent resolutions and incumbency certificates
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients in order to ensure the expeditious gathering of facts and information
Organize and manage closing process
File and document organization and maintenance; create new folders and maintain existing folders utilizing an automated records management system; organize files for off-site storage, as well as active file maintenance
Assemble closing binders
Daily client contact
Overtime will be required on occasion
Other duties/tasks as assigned
Required skills:
Must have continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing and managing priorities and meeting deadlines
Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Must possess excellent organizational skills and self-initiation
Education and Experience Requirements:
At least 10 years of experience as a real estate paralegal in a mid-size or large law firm
A Bachelor’s Degree or ABA approved paralegal certificate highly desired
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe software programs
Mental/Physical/Environmental Requirements
Indoor offices with controlled temperatures with limited exposure to noise, dust, chemicals
Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor
May sit for long periods of time
Crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting occasionally
Operating a personal computer, telephone, voicemail, and other office equipment on a regular basis
Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
Must have the ability to convey detailed information in a clear and concise manner through spoken word
Must demonstrate good problem-solving skills
