Established and busy medium-sized Divorce and Family Law Firm located in Downtown Honolulu has an immediate opening for a full-time Paralegal. The successful candidate will have current or past paralegal experience with a Hawaii law firm, ideally a family law practice, excellent communication, typing, spelling, proofreading and computer skills; he or she will be reliable, punctual, professional in appearance and manner, self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work well with colleagues and the Firm’s clients; and he or she will be able to work with minimal supervision after the initial training. He or she must be caring, sensitive, empathetic, and compassionate toward all clients, recognizing that they are experiencing a difficult, often traumatic, change in their marriage and family. Above all, the ideal candidate must always maintain and display a positive, can-do attitude and be eager and willing to perform any task reasonably necessary in furtherance of the Firm’s representation of our clients. The work environment is relaxed and collaborative, but fast paced.

Paralegal duties include:
Prepare pleadings for trials, arbitrations/mediations, depositions, and hearings.
Prepare trial exhibits and assist with trial preparations.
Participate in client and staff conferences and strategy sessions.
Assist attorneys with legal research and writing.
Prepare discovery requests, including interrogatories and requests for document production.
Speak with clients, ensuring high satisfaction and responsiveness.
Communicate with attorneys regarding case details and client information.
Compile client documents, records, and files.
Prepare uncontested divorce packages for filing in the Family Court.
Assist clients with the preparation of pleadings and other documents.
Prepare client financial statements.
Prepare child support worksheets and garnishment orders.
Organize and manage case files and correspondence.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date case information throughout the client’s electronic document and record file.
Manage the Firm’s calendar by inputting deadlines and maintaining follow-up/reminder systems.
Maintain client communication via phone, email, fax, and mail.
Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings.
Handle general administrative tasks such as printing, copying, and filing.
Managing our file-closing process.
Required skills include:
Able to type 45-60 wpm, accurately and efficiently, and use Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Able to learn and use Clio – the Firm’s client data management, billing, and calendaring program.
Articulate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and document management skills.
Dependable with excellent time-management skills.
Professional in appearance and manner.
Willing and eager to learn and be helpful to colleagues and clients.
Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
Caring and compassionate toward the Firm’s clients.
