We are seeking a Property Legal Officer to join our Property and Store Development Team.
This position will be based at our head office in Durban.
Criteria
- LLB/ Law Degree.
- Retail real estate administration experience.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant legal experience.
- Admitted attorney preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficient administration of lease process for new, expansion, reduction, relocation and closure of stores.
- Accurate and timeous communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Negotiation of Terms of Lease – Standard and Hybrid Leases.
- Preparation, vetting and finalizing of offers to lease and lease agreements.
- Monitor and audit processing and capturing of documents on Lease Management System.
- Monitor lease expiry and renewal schedule.
- Ensure and implement timeous exercise of rights of option to renew.
- Negotiation of lease terms for renewal with landlords as required.
- Preparation, vetting and finalising leases and addendums.
- Implement action in respect of damage, destruction, business interruption and force majeure.
- Attend to queries from stakeholders.
