SUMMARY OF THE POSITION 

Cowater is currently seeking experienced Project Coordinator candidates for an anticipated opportunity in South Sudan. Project Coordinator will lead project operations and management and work with a team on the delivery of technical, procurement, and logistics services. The role will be long-term and is anticipated to be part-time.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   

  •  Supporting the Project Manager in procurement services of goods and services, including the procurement of locally-engaged subject matter experts;
  • Preparing key project documents including operating procedures manuals, narrative reports, annual work plans and financial reports;
  • Assisting in developing, planning, analyzing, evaluating and prioritizing deliverables, documents and requirements;
  • Researching, locating background information, analyzing, extracting relevant information and writing summaries;
  • Engaging with stakeholders and addressing problems in a timely and effective fashion;
  • Coordinating logistical services, such as mission planning, local transportation, travel arrangements and related services such as flights and accommodation;
  • Coordinating project reviews/lessons learned and sharing with project team.
  • Maintaining and updating relevant project information in manual and/or electronic files;
  • Assisting in identifying and sourcing human resources or contractors to provide technical expertise and technical assistance;
  • Communicating project updates and status of deliverables with a wide variety of stakeholders.  

 

Minimum Experience: 

  • Previous project coordination experience (8 or more years preferred) of supporting international development programming including administration, logistics, and finance.  
  • Within your application please share the title of the project's you worked on, their duration, and their total value
  • development programming in financial and administrative capacities; 
  • Experience working on similar roles on donor-funded international development projects (please indicate project duration and budget in CV); 
  • Experience working with international development stakeholders including donors (such as GAC, USAID, FCDO), and national government representatives or regional stakeholders; 
  • Proven experience preparing key project documents including annual workplans, narrative financial and administrative reports. 
  • Significant experience working in international development in South Sudan and the wider region; 
  • Experience in researching, locating background information, analyzing, extracting relevant information and writing summaries;  
  • Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating administrative and logistics services; 
  • Experience supporting the implementation of project activities, monitoring results, coordinating project reviews/lessons learned and dealing with project issues and challenges as they arise.  

 

Education:

University degree in political sciences, law, international development, economics, finance, business administration, project management, social sciences, engineering or applied sciences.

Language Proficiency An advanced working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is required. Candidates should also speak at least one local language.

Employment Conditions Candidates must be able to live and work in South Sudan. The ideal candidate will already be based in South Sudan.
