The Chapter 13 Standing Trustee for the Seattle Division of the Western District of Washington is seeking a full time Paralegal 1 to join our team.
The Trustee and his staff administer Chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy cases and pride themselves on the quality of our work and the assistance we provide to debtors, attorneys and creditors. This position will be in the office with the possibility of working one day remotely after six months of employment. The work hours are anticipated to be from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Essential Job Function:
o The functions of this role will be to support the Legal Department with a variety of tasks. This role will work closely with the Trustee, Staff Attorneys, Paralegals and other staff to maintain a smooth, organized workflow.
Duties may include:
o Coordinate and assist attorneys with zoom meetings of creditors
o Review cases for meetings of creditors
o Initial clerical case set up
o Handle and file declarations of mailing for pleadings, etc.
o Handle court motion calendar, including monitoring response deadlines
o Review pleadings to determine if the Trustee needs to respond
o Communicate with debtor attorneys regarding their clients’ case
o Review amended plans to determine sufficiency with the Bankruptcy Code
o Navigate and manipulate the computer bankruptcy program (BSS) to obtain information and make discretionary changes
o Route amended plans and process amended wage deductions on direct pay letters as needed
o Work and distribute action items daily
o Review amended schedules
Job qualifications
o Legal experience required
o Experience in bankruptcy preferable, but not necessarily required
o Strong team player, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a face paced environment, attention to detail, strong work ethic, highly organized, maintain confidentiality and professionalism
o Excellent organizational skills
o Ability to maintain confidentiality
o Must have experience using Microsoft computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook. Experience using Needles Case Management is a plus.
o Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
o Strong written and verbal communication and good math skills
Compensation & Benefits:
o The starting salary range will be approximately$69,815 to $78,542 depending on experience, while the salary range for the position is $69,815 to $104,722
