ALMA is a busy, legal services company based in Washington, DC and Baltimore. We primarily service high-end law firms and some government agencies.
We are seeking Process Servers / Legal Couriers in the DMV area, particularly in Montgomery County. You will be employed as an independent contractor.
Priority Towns: Bethesda, Silver Spring, Wheaton, Chevy Chase, Aspen Hill, Rockville, Olney, Leisure World, Potomac, Cabin John, Derwood, North Potomac, Darnestown, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Laytonsville, Montgomery Village, Damasacus, Poolesville
Job Duties: You will be responsible for delivering court documents to individuals and entities in the DMV area. This will require driving to the service locations. Once there, you will need to record important details about the delivery and assist in verifying if the correct individual resides at the given address or if the government entity/business is available. Deliveries to corporate entities and government agencies typically take place during business hours (9am-4pm). Deliveries to residential addresses typically take place between 5:30am-9am, 12-4pm, and 6pm-10:30pm. We are ideally seeking candidates who are open to both types of deliveries.
Qualifications
Previous process serving experience preferred, but not required.
Active car insurance policy and drivers license with good record.
Must have reliable vehicle and be comfortable commuting frequently.
Assignments will need to be completed both on weekdays and weekends. Flexible availability is needed. Delivery attempts will need to be made during specific time slots on these days
Access to home printer/scanner/computer highly preferred
Compensation: Process servers can expect to make $35-55 per completed assignment. Each assignment will require commuting at least one time to the assignment’s location. The goal is to successfully serve the individual or entity on the first attempt. If not, it may require up to two more additional attempts for the service to be considered complete. Servers who have flexible work schedules and accept a moderate volume of work usually make around $500 a week.
Hours: We will provide instructions/windows of time that the attempts need to be made. You are paid per completed assignment, not per hour.
