Job Overview

American Research Bureau is seeking a detail-oriented Probate Records Researcher for a 4–6 week research project in Maricopa County, AZ

The primary responsibility will be to locate, review, and collect recently filed probate records according to research guidelines provided by American Research Bureau. The researcher will submit relevant court documents and case information to our team for review.

The researcher will generally be expected to access probate records several times per week in order to provide consistent and timely coverage of new filings. This requires visiting the courthouse in person to access and obtain documents.

This is an independent research position well suited for someone who enjoys working with public records, reviewing documents, and gathering accurate information from court filings.

Onsite work will be required at the Clerk of Superior Court Customer Service Center at 601 W Jackson St, Phoenix, AZ 85007

Responsibilities

  • Visit the assigned courthouse several times per week to review recently filed probate cases and obtain relevant documents
  • Research probate cases using online court systems and public records when available
  • Review probate petitions and related filings
  • Follow research guidelines provided by American Research Bureau
  • Identify and collect documents relevant to the assigned research project
  • Download, scan, or otherwise obtain and submit court documents
  • Accurately record case information using our reporting system
  • Maintain consistent and timely research coverage throughout the project
  • Meet established research and submission deadlines

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Strong research and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and understand court documents
  • Comfortable using online databases and court-record systems
  • Basic computer skills, including downloading, saving, scanning, and uploading documents
  • Ability to consistently follow detailed instructions
  • Reliable transportation to the assigned courthouse
  • Reliable internet access
  • Previous court, legal, genealogy, public-record, or research experience is a plus, but not required

Additional Information

This is an independent contractor position for an initial 4–6 week research project.

American Research Bureau will provide specific research guidelines and instructions. The researcher will independently locate, review, and submit court filings and related information according to those guidelines.

The researcher will be expected to access the assigned court’s probate filings several times per week throughout the project to provide consistent information on newly filed cases. The exact schedule may vary based on the court’s filing procedures and availability of records.

The work may involve both in-person courthouse research and online research. The ability to travel to and regularly access the assigned courthouse is required.

Potential for continued work may be available after the initial 4–6 week project based on business needs and performance.
