Berchem Moses PC is seeking an experienced Probate, Trust & Estate Administration Paralegal to join our Trusts & Estates practice. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our Milford office, with occasional work in our Westport office as needed.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling Connecticut probate and trust administration matters, excellent organizational skills, and a strong commitment to client service. We are seeking an individual who can work independently, manage multiple matters simultaneously, and serve as a key member of our Trusts & Estates team.
The successful candidate will have experience independently managing probate and trust administration matters from opening through closing with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with probate, trust administration, and estate planning matters.
- Prepare and file Connecticut Probate Court pleadings, forms, fiduciary accountings, and related documents.
- Manage probate and trust administration files from opening through closing.
- Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives.
- Communicate regularly with clients, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and probate courts.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical files and monitor all deadlines.
- Assist attorneys with client meetings and follow-up communications.
- Coordinate asset collection, transfers, and distributions as part of estate and trust administration.
- Conduct legal and factual research as needed.
- Utilize the firm’s case management and document management systems to maintain accurate records.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of probate, trust administration, or estate planning paralegal experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing probate and trust administration matters with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with Connecticut Probate Court procedures, forms, fiduciary accountings, and filings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience drafting legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
- Paralegal certificate preferred but not required.
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
