We are growing our probate and estate administration practice and are looking for a motivated attorney ready to expand into this rewarding area of law.

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed Texas attorney with a solid background who is eager to develop expertise in probate law and estate/trust administration. This is a hands-on role. You will handle an active caseload, learn probate practice from the ground up alongside experienced attorneys, and serve clients with professionalism and compassion. Key Responsibilities

  • Probate Administration: Manage probate cases from filing through closing, including Independent and Dependent Administrations, Muniments of Title, and Affidavits of Heirship. Creates effective strategies to get the best outcomes for our clients.
  • Court Representation: Collaboratively prepare pleadings, motions, and inventories; represent clients in Texas probate courts for heirship determinations, administration hearings, and related proceedings. Appear in Texas state courts for hearings, trials, and probate dockets.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research and prepare memos on Texas Estates Code, trust law, and related matters.
  • Conflict Management: Routinely deal with non-litigation conflict, resolve familial issues, and maintain cordiality and professionalism with opposing attorneys and pro se beneficiaries.
  • Client Consultation & Advocacy: Conduct intake consultations, build strong client relationships, and counsel grieving families with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Case Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients. Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and court staff to ensure court deadlines and filing requirements are consistently met. Maintain accurate and thorough records in case management software.
  • Training: Participate in firm training and mentorship sessions focused on probate and estate practice.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & License: J.D. from an accredited law school; active license in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience handling cases; Ability to manage multiple matters independently in a fast-paced environment. Probate experience not required but preferred.
  • Court Knowledge: Strong courtroom presence and comfort with hearings and bench appearances..
  • Skills: Strong legal drafting, analytical, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a busy caseload effectively; attention to detail a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and within a set team structure.
  • Tech Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, Lawmatics) and electronic court filing (eFileTexas).
  • Mindset: Genuine interest in learning probate law and building an estate practice. Ability to empathize and speak plainly with clients.
  • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
