This is an opportunity to work at the centre of QBCC’s regulatory operations, helping shape the policies and guidance that support fair, consistent and practical regulation across Queensland’s building industry. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to develop, review and improve operational policies, procedures and supporting materials. Your day to day will balance research, writing and collaboration – translating legislation and strategy into clear, workable guidance that supports regulatory teams on the ground. This role suits those who enjoy working with people, values clarity and quality, and takes pride in producing thoughtful, well written advice. You’ll lead policy projects, support continuous improvement and help ensure QBCC’s regulatory approach remains consistent, customer focused and fit for purpose.

Work flexibly from either Brisbane or one of our regional centres; Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba or Gold Coast – Based on office availability

About The Role

This role is well suited to a policy professional who enjoys bringing structure, clarity and purpose to complex environments. You'll play an important part in developing and reviewing operational policies and procedures that are practical, well‑reasoned and tailored to the needs of diverse audiences. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll build trusted relationships, understand operational realities and translate legislative and strategic requirements into clear, usable guidance. Your strong written communication skills will see you confidently prepare high‑quality policy materials, briefing notes and implementation documents that demonstrate sound judgement and attention to detail.

You'll be comfortable working independently, taking initiative and coordinating policy projects from start to finish, while also valuing collaboration and shared outcomes. Experience in policy development, particularly within a regulatory setting, will be highly regarded, as will your understanding of legislative and policy development processes.

About You

You're a curious, capable and self‑directed professional with experience producing high‑quality, fit‑for‑purpose documents such as policies, procedures, briefs or manuals. With a strong eye for detail and a practical understanding of policy and legislative processes, you translate complex requirements into clear, workable outcomes. Personable and collaborative, you build trusted relationships and engage confidently with people at all levels and backgrounds. You're organised, adaptable and comfortable using the Microsoft suite, with the ability to quickly learn new systems. Qualifications in Law, Policy, Governance, Business Administration or a related field will be well regarded.
