Job Summary:
The Attorney works under the direction and guidance of a Managing Attorney and is responsible for performing analysis and providing guidance on all legal matters related to personal injury claims. The Attorney’s main responsibility is to provide legal representation in order to recover compensation for a person injured during the course of their employment, or due to the negligence of another party or entity. Hughes and Coleman attorneys fight for the rights of injured persons, have regular contact with their clients, and put their clients’ interests first.

Directs the support staff on case management
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Develops knowledge of the firm and its business
Provides answers and guidance to clients who are seeking legal help, particularly on personal injury claims
Develops new business for the firm
Creates lines of communication with attorneys, physicians and other referral sources
Provides legal support and guidance
Finding ethical solutions to legal matters
Communicates with clients to understand their legal concerns and needs to help provide them with essential pieces of advice
Strategize on how to resolve the clients’ cases in a favorable and cost-effective manner
Enlightens clients about legal options and making them know the possible outcomes or threats
Develops ideal arguments and representing clients in civil and criminal legal proceedings
Stays informed about any current legislation
Builds trustworthy relationships with clients
Prepares legal documents such as dispositions, pleadings, and contracts in a timely and accurate manner
Reviews and provides analysis of all new potential cases
Ensures prompt action is taken on all potential cases
Ensures all cases wanted are converted to cases retained
Reviews case facts to determine if case meets criteria
Evaluates case facts to determine case value
Ensures all cases meet predetermined criteria
Reviews and monitors case facts to determine insurance coverage, case value and medical care
Required Skills/Abilities:
Willingness to meet personally with clients
Ability to handle a high caseload
Admittance to the bar requirements in the region of jurisdiction
Experience or expertise in a specific branch of law
Commitment to abiding by the set laws and behaving ethically
Proficiency in English both orally and in writing

Ability to recognize areas of independent judgment while also recognizing the requirement to enlist the CFO.
Ability to provide guidance and development to support staff
Ability to read and interpret documents such as pleadings, legal rules and procedures, governmental rules and regulations, medical records. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, court personnel, peers, and/or employees or organization. Proficiency with Microsoft office software and legal research platforms such as Litify case management.
Education and Experience:
Degree from a four-year college or university, graduate degree from an accredited law school
License to practice law in Kentucky, Tennessee, or New Mexico
License to practice law in other states, a plus
Two (2) years of experience
Two (2) years of Personal Injury experience preferred
Ability to provide guidance and development to support staff
Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements:
Valid Driver’s License, good driving record
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Travel to homes of witnesses and client’s homes, hospitals, incident scene, etc.
