Don’t miss out on this exciting and rewarding opportunity to join the City of Placentia Police Department! We currently have vacancies for the position of Police Academy Trainee. Applicants must currently be enrolled in a California P.O.S.T. approved police academy.

An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment to fill vacancies as they occur.

Under general supervision, participates in police operations related to patrol, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, investigation, and related police services; performs other duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties include but are not limited to:

Receiving Police Officer training in laws, court decisions, patrol procedures, arrest and booking procedures, and physical restraint techniques.

Training in traffic enforcement, citation practices, and accident investigation.

Training in investigation techniques, report writing, and court testimony.

Participating in academic activities and physical fitness exercises.

Attending and successfully completing Police Officer training at a police academy under close supervision.

Requirements

Typical Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited high school or successful G.E.D. completion.

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Additional Requirements:

Must be enrolled in a California P.O.S.T. approved police academy.

Must be at least 21 years old at the time of graduation or appointment.

Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Vision requirements: no more than 20/100 uncorrected and 20/30 corrected vision, color blindness disqualifies.

Abilities:

Learn and understand law enforcement policies and regulations.

Excellent customer service, communication, integrity, and organizational skills.

Good character, no serious convictions, and satisfactory credit history.

Physical, Mental Demands, and Work Environment: The position involves physical activities, exposure to outdoor conditions, and use of safety equipment. It requires mental alertness, effective judgment, and interaction with various stakeholders.
