Position Title: Compliance Specialist

Job Summary: The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the organization’s adherence to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures. This role plays a key part in supporting compliance with HIPAA, CMS, OIG, NYS DOH regulations, and other applicable healthcare standards.

Responsibilities:

Monitor and assess compliance with healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and NYS Department of Health guidelines.
Conduct internal audits and risk assessments related to billing practices, documentation, patient privacy, and staff credentialing.
Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s compliance program.
Track and investigate compliance complaints and incidents; coordinate corrective action plans as needed.
Educate and train staff on compliance policies, regulatory changes, and ethical conduct.
Maintain and update compliance-related documentation, policies, and procedures.
Support the organization during regulatory inspections, surveys, and external audits.
Collaborate with leadership to foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
Stay current on emerging regulations and best practices in healthcare compliance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Legal Studies, or a related field; Master’s or JD a plus.
2–4 years of experience in a healthcare compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs role, preferably in an outpatient or community health setting.
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and NYS Medicaid rules.
Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and compliance management software.

Pay: $64,350.00 – $65,000.00 per year
