Position Overview: The Paralegal provides legal and administrative support to attorneys handling civil litigation matters, with a strong focus on medical malpractice, Litigation and some knowledge and experience with premises liability, motor vehicle accident claims, and related personal injury litigation. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to follow established processes while managing deadlines, documents, records, and case information in a fast-paced legal environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage assigned civil litigation matters from intake through resolution, including investigation, discovery, pleadings, filings, service follow-up, hearing/trial preparation, and case-file maintenance.
· Review, organize, summarize, and analyze medical records, billing records, accident reports, witness statements, expert materials, damages information, and other case documents.
· Prepare litigation materials, including medical chronologies, treatment and damages summaries, case timelines, pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, affidavits, records requests, exhibits, and trial binders.
· Coordinate records collection and case documentation while tracking court dates, discovery deadlines, expert deadlines, internal milestones, and other key case requirements.
· Communicate professionally with clients, defendants, witnesses, experts, providers, insurers, counsel, courts, vendors, attorneys, and team members.
· Use Office 365, e-filing platforms, case management systems, document tools, and account management software to maintain accurate case data and organized files.
· Follow established workflows and internal procedures while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
· Prior paralegal experience in civil litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, premises liability, motor vehicle accident matters, collections, or foreclosure practices preferred.
· Knowledge of litigation procedures, discovery, court filings, deadlines, case management practices, and legal workflows.
· Experience reviewing medical records, bills, treatment histories, injury documentation, and identifying inconsistencies, missing records, treatment gaps, and key factual issues.
· Strong attention to detail, organization, proofreading, problem-solving, critical thinking, and ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently.
· Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, co-workers, clients, courts, counsel, and others.
· Ability to prioritize a high-volume workload, manage competing deadlines, work independently, and support attorneys and team members.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, legal case management systems, e-filing platforms, document management tools, legal research resources, and account management software preferred.
· Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, client service, ethical legal support, and ability to pass a Federal Trust Background Check.
· HS Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Job Preferences
In-office candidate preferred in Columbus, Ohio or Nashville, Tennessee strongly preferred, other qualified candidates will be considered.
