The Administrative Assistant for the Utah Division of Law Enforcement is an exciting and fulfilling position that works closely with, and directly for, the Chief and Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement. This role is critical to the success of the agency and supports only executive operations—not the general agency workload. You will play a key role in ensuring that all tasks, assignments, and projects are completed in a timely and professional manner—while maintaining the highest level of trust and confidentiality.

Responsibilities
As an Administrative Assistant, you will:
Provide high-level administrative support to the Chief and Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement
Serve as the primary point of contact and gatekeeper for executive scheduling and correspondence
Screen access and manage communication channels for the Chief’s office
Coordinate and schedule meetings, travel, and agency events—including facilities, meals, and equipment
Draft, edit, and review written communications, reports, and briefing materials
Track legislation and current events relevant to agency operations
Analyze and summarize data, interpret results, and provide recommendations
Perform routine accounting duties, including tracking expenditures and managing supply inventory
Maintain calendars and coordinate executive appointments and travel logistics
Respond to public inquiries and complaints with professionalism and accuracy
Supervise subordinate staff (if applicable), including assigning duties and evaluating performance
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Proven trustworthiness in handling confidential information
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Must pass a background investigation
Must maintain a valid driver’s license
Must pass periodic drug testing
Must be certified or eligible to be certified as a Notary Public
No criminal history that would preclude BCI certification
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Ability to work comfortably in an office setting, with occasional travel
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree or higher in:

Familiarity with or interest in hunting, fishing, trapping, or outdoor recreation activities
