Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our defense team. In this role, you will support attorneys in defending individuals, businesses, and organizations against civil litigation claims, including personal injury and negligence cases. This position offers an opportunity to work on meaningful cases in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys with all aspects of defense litigation, including legal research, drafting pleadings, and preparing discovery responses.
Organize and manage discovery materials, including document review, production, and coordination of depositions.
Prepare case summaries, chronologies, and trial binders for court appearances and trial preparation.
File documents with state, federal, and appellate courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and expert consultants to gather and organize case-related information.
Monitor case deadlines and ensure attorneys are informed of upcoming tasks and responsibilities.
Assist in the preparation of settlement agreements, mediation materials, and other legal documents.
Conduct factual investigations and gather records relevant to case defense, such as medical and employment records.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
Preferred Experience: 2+ years of litigation experience, particularly in civil litigation defense.
Strong understanding of civil litigation processes, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client and case relationships effectively.
Proficiency in legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with insurance defense or managing claims on behalf of corporate clients.
Familiarity with medical records review and case summarization for personal injury defense.
Knowledge of e-discovery platforms and technology.
