Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to represent injured plaintiffs in a high-volume plaintiff-side practice. The successful candidate will manage cases from intake through resolution, including investigation, discovery, depositions, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. This role requires strong advocacy skills, solid courtroom experience, and a commitment to client-centered representation. Familiarity with workers’ compensation and employment law matters is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of personal injury matters for plaintiffs, including motor vehicle collisions, slip-and-fall, catastrophic injuries, and other tort claims.
- Conduct thorough case investigations, interview clients and witnesses, obtain and review medical records, and retain experts when needed.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and pre-trial submissions in state and federal courts.
- Perform and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts; prepare thorough deposition summaries and trial exhibits.
- Lead settlement negotiations with insurance carriers and defense counsel to obtain favorable resolutions for clients.
- Prepare cases for trial: develop trial strategy, coordinate with experts, draft trial briefs, voir dire, opening statements, examinations, and closing arguments.
- Attend court hearings, motion practice, mediations, and status conferences; manage calendaring and compliance with procedural deadlines.
- Provide clear, compassionate counsel to clients regarding case strategy, realistic expectations, and litigation timelines; maintain consistent client communication and documentation.
- Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to organize case files, prepare discovery responses, and manage billing and case costs.
- Support business development efforts by participating in community outreach, referral relationships, and intake screening as needed.
Qualifications
- Jurisdictional law degree (J.D.) and active membership in good standing with the CA state bar.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience focused on personal injury litigation representing plaintiffs; strong preference for candidates with trial experience.
- Demonstrated experience with depositions and motion practice; ability to manage litigation from intake through trial.
- Proven skills in legal research, persuasive legal writing, and oral advocacy.
- Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills and ability to explain complex legal matters in plain language.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation and employment law matters is highly desirable.
- Experience handling plaintiff-side cases and working with experts and investigators is a plus.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for site visits and client meetings as required.
