Role Overview:
We are looking for a candidate with a strong legal background. This role is a foundational leadership responsible for building and managing both the people function and compliance framework of the business. The People & Compliance Manager will ensure that Stanley & Gray operates with full regulatory integrity, while also developing a high-performance culture, structured HR systems, and scalable internal processes. You will work closely with leadership to build the company from the ground up, ensuring alignment between people, operations, and governance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
🔹 People & HR Management
- Design and implement HR structures, policies, and processes from scratch
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and talent management initiatives
- Develop performance management frameworks and KPIs
- Drive employee engagement, culture, and organizational development
- Manage employee relations, disciplinary processes, and HR documentation
🔹 Regulatory & Corporate Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all local laws, labor regulations, and industry requirements
- Manage licensing, permits, and regulatory approvals relevant to alcohol distribution
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies
- Establish internal compliance policies, controls, and reporting systems
- Lead internal audits and ensure proper documentation across all operations
🔹 Operations & Governance
- Support the setup of operational processes and internal systems
- Develop and maintain company-wide policies (HR, operations, ethics)
- Implement governance structures and reporting frameworks
- Identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A highly structured and proactive professional with strong execution capability
- 5+ years experience in HR, Compliance, Operations, or a related field
- Experience in a regulated industry (FMCG, alcohol, pharma, finance) is a strong advantage
- Strong understanding of Nigerian labor laws and regulatory landscape
- Proven ability to build systems and processes from scratch
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
