Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Patent Legal Assistant to support a dynamic intellectual property practice. The ideal candidate will be proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working across multiple client accounts rather than supporting a single attorney. Familiarity with USPTO systems and filing standards is critical for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file U.S. and international patent documents with the USPTO
Draft and manage client communications and patent prosecution documents
Utilize USPTO platforms such as EFS, EPAS, and PAIR
Maintain organization and prioritize multiple assignments efficiently
Proactively assist with additional administrative tasks across the firm when needed
Qualifications
1–3 years of experience supporting patent prosecution in a law firm or corporate legal department
Strong understanding of USPTO electronic filing systems and processes
Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required with relevant experience)
Comfortable working with a large team of attorneys and timekeepers
High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems
Ability to adapt, learn quickly, and handle a high-volume workload
Additional Details
Position is direct hire and starts fully on-site
Hybrid work option (3 days in-office) may be offered after approximately 6 months
Standard background check required prior to start
Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
