Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 100 international law firm seeking a Patent Agent to join its Dallas, TX office on an in office basis.

This is a strong opportunity for a patent prosecution focused professional who enjoys working closely with attorneys on sophisticated technology matters, with scope to contribute across patent prosecution, counseling, and selected dispute support needs.

The firm offers a well established international platform, a collaborative team environment, and exposure to a broad client base with complex patent portfolios. The Dallas team works closely with colleagues across offices, with an emphasis on quality, responsiveness, and practical commercial judgment.

The Opportunity

The Patent Agent will support patent attorneys on drafting and prosecuting United States patent applications, preparing responses to USPTO office actions, reviewing invention disclosures, conducting prior art searches, and communicating with clients and foreign counsel. The role may also include assistance on litigation and transactional matters requiring technical fluency, including support for deposition preparation and other technology focused case work.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a Patent Agent with:

  • Admission to practice before the USPTO, or eligibility for entry level candidates where applicable
  • At least 2 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience as a patent agent or technical advisor, with entry level candidates also considered where eligible
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related science, with an advanced degree viewed positively
  • Strong academic credentials, analytical ability, and clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a global and culturally diverse team environment
