Position Description:
Responsible for overseeing driver training programs and ensures driver and company compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and relevant regulations. Coordinates and conducts training sessions for both new hires and existing drivers, directing all aspects of onboarding, quarterly and annual training. Designs comprehensive driver training programs that encompass safety procedures, defensive driving techniques, vehicle operation, and regulatory compliance. Ensures training materials are up-to-date and engaging. Has the ability to set goals and drive improvement while leading their team and driving Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Provides leadership and general management skills for both short and long-term success. Maintains standards of excellence in customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with Director of Fleet Services, Driver Training and Compliance and other managers to ensure the department achieves targeted growth with developing driver training programs that encompass safety procedures, defensive driving techniques, vehicle operation, and regulatory compliance.
Analyzes department operations; identifies and maintains systems for tracking and evaluating driver performance, including metrics such as accident rates, compliance with regulations, and customer feedback while maintaining cost effective operations to achieve bottom line budget against target.
Stays abreast of all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to commercial driving. Ensures that all drivers and training programs adhere to these regulations at all times.
Monitors, maintains, and supports all compliance related administrative functions with the FMCSA and other state-based organizations including; managing the company drug and alcohol testing program Clearinghouse queries and DataQ challenges.
Creates policies and procedures as appropriate to maintain the operational safety of the company.
Responsible for monitoring the operation of onboard diagnostic tools; ensures data is monitored daily to identify potential safety concerns resulting from hard braking, speeding, HOS violations, etc.
Maintains accurate records of driver training activities, compliance efforts, and any incidents or violations. Ensures that all documentation is complete, organized, and easily accessible for regulatory inspections or internal audits.
Collaborates with other departments and divisions to address needs, ensuring the best possible customer service experience.
Builds and manages strong working relationships with Team Members.
Influences any changes necessary to meet statutory requirements, ensuring minimum risk to Team Members and the business.
Communicates goals and objectives and other important information to assigned Team Members.
Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members.
Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.

Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of Transportation or Operations Experience.
3 years of prior leadership experience, with coaching, mentoring and supervising.
In-depth knowledge of FMCSA compliance and regulations, Driver Qualification and Hiring Standards, and vehicle telematic systems.
Knowledge of driver safety programs.
Strong planning and execution skills.
Ability to carry out multiple business initiatives.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Strong MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Valid drivers’ license and clean MVR.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
