Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to join our dynamic law office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal support, particularly in criminal law. This role requires excellent clerical skills and the ability to manage various administrative tasks efficiently. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys and ensuring the smooth operation of the office.
Responsibilities
Provide executive administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling appointments and managing calendars.
Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other resources to assist with case preparation.
Draft, write, and file legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
Perform data entry tasks related to case management and client information.
Organize and maintain physical and electronic files for easy access and retrieval.
Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders as needed.
Support daily clerical operations within the law office to enhance productivity.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law office is preferred.
Strong writing skills with attention to detail for drafting legal documents.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to perform data entry accurately and efficiently.
Strong clerical skills including filing, document management, and record keeping.
A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
