Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP, one of San Diego’s oldest and most prestigious law firms, has an opening for an experienced Litigation Paralegal. This position is approximately 80% Paralegal work and 20% Legal Secretary work, subject to business need. Our ideal candidate will possess at least five years’ experience supporting civil litigation, preferably in Trusts & Estates (Probate).
Job Responsibilities
Provide administrative support to attorney
Manage, plan, and calendar conference calls, meetings, deadlines, including client interface
Scheduling consultations, appointments, depositions, etc.
Knowledge of federal and state court rules and procedures
Extensive management of cases through document review applications such as Eclipse and iManage
Process electronically stored information (ESI)
Prepare, revise, proofread, and redline legal documents
Analyze data through such means as Excel
Prepare, organize, and summarize discovery
Prepare certain motion documents and other correspondence
Draft declarations and keep discovery and records logs
Organize and summarize voluminous documents, to include preparing chronologies of medical records, as well as summarizing of deposition transcripts
Prepare/manage subpoenas
Prepare correspondence, letters, client communications, documents, engagement letters, conflict waivers, run conflicts reports, and submit new matter openings
Track certified mailings and overnight deliveries
Perform administrative support functions, such as opening, stamping, scanning documents into document management system, e-mailing documents to clients, maintain and update electronic and physical files, prepare and submit check requests, process invoices, and schedule conference rooms etc.
Routine telephone calls with clients, opposing counsel, court clerks, court reporters, etc.
Preparing pleadings for court filing (State and Federal) and service
Electronically file/serve documents
Preparing exhibit binders and hearing/trial binders for attorneys
Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, mediation, and trials
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate required
Minimum of five years’ of litigation Paralegal and Secretarial experience, Trust & Estates experience highly preferred
Strong system skills in document management systems and digital filing
Proficient knowledge of Outlook, Word, DocuSign, and Excel
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Superior oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to interact well with clients, vendors and coworkers
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Type: Full-time
Anticipated Base Salary: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
