Mastagni Holstedt, A.P.C., an AV-rated law firm, seeks a legal secretary/paralegal with at least three to five years of litigation experience to work in our Labor and Employment Department at the Inglewood office.
Responsibilities
Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, discovery responses, declarations, and correspondence.
Prepare, review, and file legal documents in California state and federal courts in compliance with court rules, along with filing with federal and state agencies, including the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) as required.
Perform intake of new cases by collecting necessary information from prospective clients and routing internally as appropriate.
Perform legal research related to Court rules and procedures to ensure compliance.
Handle administrative tasks, including scheduling / managing attorney calendars, document and file management, client communications, and organizing and preparing hearing/trial exhibits, binders, and other tasks as needed.
Correspond and communicate regularly with clients, courts, attorneys, and opposing counsel as needed.
Maintain client confidentiality.
Requirements And Skills
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant, or paralegal, preferably in employment litigation.
Paralegal certificate is a plus.
Proficiency in the use of MS Windows, MS Office, and client databases
Strong knowledge of court rules, procedures, and deadlines
Ability to work cooperatively
Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette
Professional appearance and demeanor
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and multitask
