Job Description
Prestigious West Los Angeles Personal Injury trial law firm is hiring a Legal Assistant/Paralegal who wants to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, high profile trial law firm that handles significant 7 and 8-figure cases.
Please do not apply for this position unless you have a minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal working at a trial law firm performing the job duties below.
Candidates for this position must be able to handle a case from intake and the filing of the Complaint to trial.
Position Job Duties:
Calendaring all case deadlines and events
Formatting, proofreading, finalizing, serving, and filing legal documents, including Summons & Complaints, Motions, Briefs, Notices, and Subpoenas
Interacting with clients to obtain information
Preparing retainers, record authorizations, and record requests
Providing a high level secretarial and administrative support
Drafting correspondence
Managing all case-related documents
Updating all case-related data in Case Management program
Coordinating travel arrangements and scheduling of meetings
Communicating with clients, experts and witnesses
Requesting and managing medical records
Scheduling depositions
Propounding and responding to initial drafts of written discover
Trial preparation including the creation of trial binders
Attending inspections and medical examinations
Negotiating medical bills and liens
Managing case documents electronically
Compiling evidence and supporting information by searching records, discovery documents, transcripts, and databases
Preparing legal documents for attorney’s review and approval
Qualified candidates MUST have 3+ years of experience preferably in plaintiff’s litigation. Resumes where litigation experience is not well documented will not be considered. Candidates must enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, have excellent organizational and writing skills and good rapport with clients, be able to handle a heavy case load and have a strong working knowledge of the CCP, FRCP and Evidence Code/Rules. Spanish-speaking and/or experience with Litify and Compulaw a plus but not required.
