Draft, proofread, and organize court documents (motions, affidavits, responses) related to alimony modification.

Ensure all documents comply with California family law guidelines and local court rules.

Case Management & Organization

Maintain digital files, track deadlines, and organize case-related documents.

Create and manage checklists to keep the process on schedule.

Research & Fact-Finding

Conduct basic legal research and compile relevant information (e.g., case law, statutes, local court rules).

Gather financial data, statements, and evidence needed for the alimony modification process.

Administrative Support

Assist in scheduling court dates, mediation sessions, and client meetings.

Coordinate communication between the client and any involved legal professionals.

Client Communication

Provide regular updates on status, upcoming deadlines, and next steps.

Advise on document requirements and best organizational practices (note: you will not provide legal advice; you will support the self-represented client with procedural guidance and administrative tasks).

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Paralegal certificate, relevant coursework in paralegal/legal studies, or prior experience as a Legal Assistant.

Experience in California family law or past involvement in family court proceedings.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of California family court rules and procedures.

Excellent written communication and proofreading skills.

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Proficient in using cloud-based tools (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox) and MS Office/Google Docs.

Work Arrangement

Must have reliable internet access and a secure home office or workstation.

Able to communicate via email, phone, or video conferencing (e.g., Zoom).

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $30 – $45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Hours: Flexible; estimated 5–10 hours per week, with potential for more as the case progresses.

Contract Type: This is a 1099 contract position (not a W-2 employee role); you will be responsible for your own taxes and benefits.

Include your availability and any scheduling constraints.

State your desired hourly rate within the above-mentioned range.
