We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the application and/or reconsideration process for Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits. This position requires superior organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong ability to work collaboratively with clients and with team members while maintaining a professional and welcoming presence.
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the New Client Case Manager / Intake Supervisor, the Applications Case Manager will process all Applications, Requests for Reconsideration and Requests for Hearing for New and Returning Clients and perform various administrative support tasks to facilitate the efficient operation of the law firm.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities
File Application and associated documents with SSA.
File Request for Reconsideration and associated documents with SSA.
File Request for Hearing and associated documents with SSA.
Conduct timely follow up regarding application status, act as needed within required timeframes to facilitate processing and determination by SSA.
Maintain thorough documentation of case status in case management system.
Coordinate Clients’ Appointments for Certified Examinations (CE).
Coordinate Completion of Activities for Daily Living (ADL) Forms.
Responsible for all communication with SSA for assigned cases at the Application, Reconsideration, and Request for Hearing Levels.
Maintain/Update Client contact information, History, and Claim Status in Case Management System.
Field Client calls regarding Claim Status
Required Skills/Abilities
Experience completing and filing applications for Social Security Disability Insurance
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to handle difficult conversations with Clients.
Detail-oriented and professional.
Strong ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Ability to maintain confidential records.
Fluent in English.
Education and Experience
Associates degree preferred.
At least two years’ experience working in a law firm preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
