POSITION: Custody Clerk (Clerk 5)

CLASSIFICATION: Unit I. D. 1601, Union Local 249

LOCATION: Family Division, Adult Section 440 Ross Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219

STATUS: Full-Time, Benefits Eligible

SALARY: $40,405.18 – $47,535.50 annual

SUMMARY:

Responsible for customer service, clerical case management and processing, scheduling, filing, tracking, and monitoring financial information in the Custody Department. The Custody Department is a multi-layered department that includes alternative dispute resolution steps, processing orders from motions and appearances before Custody Hearing Officers. Identification of procedural or case-specific issues with appropriate follow through and resolution. Exercise initiative, independent judgment and strict confidentiality in performing job duties.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED (minimum); additional business, financial, or computer training beyond high school preferred.
Minimum of three years related work experience including public relations or customer service.
Advanced computer skills in Windows including Microsoft Word and Excel and excellent word processing and data entry skills.
Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
High degree of accuracy in work performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform case management on custody filings as it relates to payments, timelines, service, scheduling, contempt actions, dismissals, etc. each day and follow through with related and required tasks.
Provide excellent customer service in the department, in person (at the reception window), on the phone, and via written inquiries. Answer questions, check in litigants. process paperwork, schedule court events, update systems, refer clients to other court departments as necessary.
Timely create and issue court orders with case-specific information, which must be clear and accurate.
Review custody filings and research the case docket to ensure that the case is being properly managed and scheduled.
Perform data entry.
