Duties
- Assist attorneys with case management across various legal disciplines such as estate planning, environmental law, and civil litigation.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, affidavits, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
- Manage electronic and physical case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw; ensure all records are organized and up-to-date.
- Interview clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders to gather pertinent information for case development.
- Support procedural law compliance by preparing filings for courts and agencies accurately and timely.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining strict adherence to privacy standards.
- Coordinate with attorneys on project management tasks related to complex cases involving multiple legal areas such as securities law or tribal regulations.
- Provide executive administrative support including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and preparing reports as needed.
- Review documents for accuracy through proofreading and legal writing to ensure clarity and professionalism.
Skills
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant supporting multiple practice areas including estate planning, family law, personal injury law, or civil litigation.
- Strong knowledge of procedural law and familiarity with litigation processes from document review to court filings.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis; ability to synthesize findings effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Skilled in document management systems like iManage and PCLaw; adept at data entry, filing, and maintaining comprehensive case records.
- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities.
- Effective client communication skills combined with professional phone etiquette for interviews and consultations.
- Experience handling confidential information responsibly within a fast-paced legal environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for daily administrative tasks; experience with Word processing is essential.
- Strong research capabilities combined with an understanding of various practice areas such as UCC law, patent law, workers’ compensation law, or tribal regulations is preferred but not required.
