Simpson Thacher is seeking a Banking and Credit paralegal to join our Hong Kong office. The Paralegal is responsible for performing a broad variety of work during all phases of various transactions within their specific practice area. This role works under the supervision and direction of an experienced attorney.
- Assist attorneys with preparation of legal documents, due diligence review, subscription document review and tracking, and related tasks
- Translation of documents
- Complete forms required for the formation/dissolution/amendment and qualification of corporations, LLC’s and partnerships
- Organize and maintain electronic files, and paper files where necessary
- Organize and maintain due diligence and subscription documents
- Perform due diligence searches
- Utilize and manage electronic databases
- Proofread, organize and track documents; prepare closing sets of necessary documents following completion of a transaction; organize and distribute post-closing documents
- Assist with document/information gathering, logistics and coordination of items received
- Maintain well organized files
- Update document management platforms and databases and categorize documents for efficient accessibility
- Liaise with internal departments and outside vendors
- Perform other tasks as assigned by deal teams
- Be flexible to adjust hours to meet departmental need
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree or Law degree required
Skills and Experience Required
- Fluency in both English and Chinese or additional languages such as Korean
- Detail oriented, with excellent organizational and communication skills
- Able to work in a fast paced environment, both independently or on a team
- Flexibility, time management and an ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines
- Proficiency with legal terminology relevant to the industry
- Critical thinking and solution oriented mindset
- Present information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Self-starter who can organize, plan and complete multi-task work activities
- Ability to proofread for contextual, grammatical and spelling errors
Preferred Skills
- Related experience in a law firm or other professional services firm
- Knowledge of MS Office applications and Excel preferred
