About the Role
Our Special Collections Department is looking for a detail-oriented Paralegal to assist with legal research, document preparation, and tax collections. This is a temp-to-hire position, offering the opportunity for long-term employment based on performance. The role involves filing tax warrants and lawsuits, locating defendants, and making collection calls to recover delinquent tax accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct legal research and locate defendants.
Prepare and file tax warrants, lawsuits, and reports.
Manage case files and update legal databases.
Work with court clerks, constables, banks, and firm clients.
Make collection calls to negotiate and recover delinquent taxes.
What We’re Looking For
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong communication and research skills
Detail-oriented and able to multitask
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Basic legal knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
Paralegal certification (preferred)
Legal or tax collections experience (preferred)
Additional Requirements
50% travel required (valid driver’s license & clean driving record)
MVR background check required
If the agency provides car insurance, candidates can drive after training.
If not, driving starts once hired as a regular employee.
