The Process Server is a part-time, civilian employee tasked with serving civil documents.

Job Description
Communicates with the public, co-workers, and other employees on the telephone, in person, or at the front counter to provide civil process services and other general services for the Sheriff’s Office.
Reviews civil documents presented for service to assess appropriate fees to be collected for the service.
Codes and inputs information into a computer that produces accurate records concerning civil document types, service requirements, and completion data including billing information concerning the service. Edits automated name, address, and telephone record information to keep current and accurate records concerning civil process.
Reviews and matches computer generated routing slips, affidavits, billing information and the original civil document to provide return of service information to the originating person.
Answers telephone requests from the public and other agencies to provide public services and information concerning services provided by the Sheriff’s Office.
Files original civil documents alphabetically to maintain accurate inventory of civil documents.
Performs essential tasks of other support services positions after being cross trained in those positions.
Performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications
Required Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables, in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to operate telephones, computer terminal, keyboard, photocopier, and printer/scanning instrumentation.
Licenses and Certifications
DL NUMBER – Driver License, Valid and in State Valid Colorado driver’s license Required
The ability to speak a language other than English is a skill that enhances an employee’s ability to complete this job. The incidents that require the use of secondary language skill vary by day but are routinely frequent; it is expected that this skill will be used more than 11 times per month. The employee must be proficient in speaking the second language to be eligible for the bilingual pay differential.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position is non- exempt compensation to determine FLSA status from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
