Our Law Firm client is one of the largest women owned Firms in the country. The Firm predominately focuses on General Liability Defense for large corporations and insurers. They have been expanding in the Memphis Market and are looking to add to their staff an experienced Paralegal. This is a newly created position as the Firm is expanding in multiple markets.
***THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION IN MEMPHIS, TN***
Responsibilities
- Under attorney direction drafts and prepares correspondence and other written documents as required including responses, reports, filings, pleadings, answers, motions, interrogatories, letters and other documents as necessary.
- Maintains calendar for trial and discovery deadlines.
- Schedules depositions, hearings, appointments, and any other legal proceedings necessary for attorneys.
- Ensures organization of files including opening, closing, management and maintenance of files.
- Monitors files and escalates issues requiring attorney involvement. Performs timely handling of highly sensitive issues and materials related to case.
- Assists attorneys with time entry on billing software.
- Prepares and handles tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other requests for information as needed. Issues subpoenas as needed.
- E-files documents using state and federal court databases.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Qualifications:
- Prior paralegal experience supporting litigators in general liability defense litigation, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment.
- Strong working knowledge of General Liability Litigation.
- Tennessee State filing including E-Filing experience required. Federal E-Filing experience using PACER a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Power Point and Outlook, and Excel required.
- Requires critical thinking skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Seeking someone who is a team player.
