Summary Description:
The Litigation Docket Coordinator provides vital support to the firm by maintaining and updating litigation docketing systems across various practice groups. This role is critical to ensuring that court deadlines are accurately tracked and that the firm remains in compliance with professional obligations, thereby minimizing the risk of malpractice. The coordinator works closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and other staff to manage docketing-related workflows and ensure the integrity of the calendaring process.
Qualifications
· 3-5 years of litigation experience in various federal and state courts that included calculating and calendaring deadlines
· Strong knowledge of litigation processes, court rules, and procedures is required
· Proficient knowledge of federal, state, appellate and local court systems
· Ability to research and apply statutory/agency and/or court rules and procedures for any jurisdiction
· Ability to use Pacer.gov, PacerPro, and other legal resources and websites to obtain case dockets, rules, and procedures
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and internet research
· Strong attention to detail, analytical abilities, and resourcefulness
· Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
· The Litigation Docket Coordinator is responsible for monitoring assigned shared mailboxes and related docket requests and docketing same in a timely manner according to firm guidelines and procedures utilizing the firm’s litigation docketing software (CompuLaw)
· The Litigation Docket Coordinator reports to the Litigation Docket Administrator and will assist the Litigation Docket Administrator as needed and directed in additional projects within the Docket Team
· Independently docket for designated assignment group (multiple offices and/or practice groups)
· Review and comprehend documents submitted to ensure all deadlines are identified and docketed
· Review court and/or agency dockets as needed
· Verify jurisdiction, court/venue, and relevant authorities
· Verify the accuracy of docketed items and deadlines generated
· Ensure the accuracy of timekeepers assigned to, review, and distribute accurate matter/event reports
· Download, save, and distribute PDFs of electronic court notices (e-notices) for cases that are calendared through the CompuLaw system by the Litigation Docketing team
· Research statutory, agency, court, and individual judges’ rules and practices and apply them appropriately
· Respond professionally and constructively to requests from timekeepers and staff regarding docketed dates and court rules and procedures
· Collaborate with the Litigation Docket Administrator to continually improve the firm’s docketing best practices, policies, and processes
· Assist the Docket Team with special projects as needed
· Remain current with developments, procedures, and rules in courts and agencies within the designated assignment group
Preferred Experience:
– 3+ years office experience
– High school diploma or equivalent
– 3-5 years legal office experience (specifically litigation)
