Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: 0–5 years; 1–2 years preferred
About the Role
We are a small, collaborative trusts and estates law firm seeking a Transactional Probate & Estate Planning Paralegal who enjoys organized, detail-oriented work and helping matters move steadily from beginning to completion.
This position is especially well suited for someone who likes the transactional and administrative side of trusts and estates practice, including estate planning, probate administration, trust administration, and conservatorships.
You do not need to come to us knowing everything. We are open to candidates with 0–5years of experience, with a preference for approximately 1–2 years of relevant legal experience.
What You’ll Work On
Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting attorneys with probate and trust administration matters from opening through completion
- Preparing and organizing probate, trust administration, and conservatorship documents and filings
- Supporting estate planning matters, including preparation and organization of estate planning documents
- Gathering and organizing financial records, asset information, bank statements, account information, and supporting documentation
- Tracking estate and trust assets, distributions, expenses, and other financial information
- Assisting with inventories, accountings, asset schedules, and other financially detailed work
- Communicating with clients regarding documents, financial information, deadlines, and outstanding items
- Maintaining organized case files, calendars, task lists, and case deadlines
- Following up consistently with clients, attorneys, financial institutions, and other professionals
- Working collaboratively with attorneys and other paralegals to keep matters moving forward
- Accurately and consistently recording billable time
You May Be a Great Fit If You…
Like numbers. You don’t need to be an accountant, but spreadsheets, financial statements, asset values, account balances, and reconciling information don’t intimidate you. You enjoy figuring out why numbers don’t match.
Like transactional work. You enjoy taking a matter with many moving pieces, creating order, tracking what is still needed, and steadily moving it toward completion.
Are organized and proactive. You don’t wait for someone to repeatedly ask whether something was completed. You keep track of your responsibilities and follow through because you love to check things off your lists.
Are a team player. You enjoy working collaboratively, communicating with your teammates, pitching in when needed, and contributing to a team where people support one another and share responsibility for getting excellent work done.
Communicate well. You are comfortable communicating with attorneys, coworkers, clients, and outside professionals and understand that responsiveness is an important part of working on a team.
Pay attention to details. Names, dates, account numbers, asset values, deadlines, and documents matter in this practice.
Are comfortable asking questions. We would rather have someone ask a thoughtful question than quietly guess.
Want to learn. Trusts and estates can be complex. We are looking for someone interested in developing real expertise in this practice area over time.
Experience & Qualifications
- 0–5 years of paralegal or relevant legal experience; 1–2 yearspreferred
- Experience in estate planning, probate, trust administration, conservatorships, family law, civil litigation, or another related legal practice is preferred but not required
