Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal to support a busy plaintiff-side litigation practice. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys with case management, legal research, document drafting, client intake, and trial preparation across workers compensation and employment law matters. Fluency in Spanish and experience handling plaintiff litigation and intake are highly desired. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple files, and a commitment to excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in all phases of litigation for plaintiff-side cases, including workers compensation and employment law matters.
- Conduct legal research, gather facts, and summarize findings to assist case strategy and pleadings.
- Prepare, draft, and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and settlement documents.
- Manage client intake and communications: conduct initial interviews, collect documents, and maintain timely, professional contact with clients (Spanish language ability preferred for bilingual intake).
- Organize and maintain case files, calendars, deadlines, and court schedules; ensure compliance with filing requirements and statute of limitations.
- Assist with discovery: draft interrogatories, requests for production, subpoena preparation, and manage document review and production.
- Prepare exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and assist with trial preparation and courtroom support.
- Coordinate with experts, medical providers, opposing counsel, and insurers to obtain necessary records and information.
- Draft demand letters, settlement analyses, and assist attorneys in negotiations.
- Use case management software to track case status, update deadlines, and generate reports.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, paralegal certificate, or Bachelors degree with relevant paralegal experience preferred; formal paralegal certification a plus.
- Minimum 3 years experience as a paralegal, with demonstrable experience in plaintiff-side litigation, personal injury, workers compensation, or employment law preferred.
- Strong familiarity with litigation procedures, discovery process, drafting pleadings, and court filing rules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional client-facing demeanor.
- Spanish fluency (speaking and reading) strongly preferred to support bilingual client intake and communications.
- Experience with client intake, case management, and legal software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, ProLaw, or similar).
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to prepare materials for trial.
- Knowledge of settlement procedures, insurance claims, and medical records preferred.
