Wilson Law Offices is seeking a part-time paralegal for a Center City Philadelphia role with the potential to grow into a full-time hybrid position. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants substantial hands-on experience in a small law practice doing meaningful client and case work across probate, estate planning, civil matters, personal injury, and criminal defense.

During the six-month probationary period, this role is on site three days per week. After that, there may be an opportunity to add remote work if the arrangement is a good fit.

What you’ll do

  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including probate, estate-planning, civil, and related filings

  • Support case management from intake through key deadlines

  • Calendar hearings, depositions, filings, meetings, and other case activity

  • Communicate with clients, attorneys, courts, agencies, and opposing counsel

  • Maintain organized electronic case files and help keep attorneys on track

  • Obtain records and other supporting documentation

  • Conduct legal research as needed

  • Meet with clients by phone or Zoom when appropriate

Day-one requirements

  • Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, or other clearly relevant legal support experience

  • Strong organizational skills and reliable deadline management

  • Professional written and verbal communication

  • Comfort communicating with clients and outside parties in a professional setting

  • Ability to create and maintain electronic case files

  • Availability to work on site in Center City Philadelphia three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday

  • Familiarity with Google Docs or similar tools

  • Ability to become a Pennsylvania notary if not already commissioned

  • Ability to type at a functional professional level, with the expectation of reaching 48 words per minute by the end of the probationary period

Preferred experience

  • Experience with Pennsylvania law and procedure

  • Experience with probate, estate planning, guardianship, civil litigation, personal injury, or criminal matters

  • Experience drafting pleadings, petitions, probate filings, discovery, or related legal documents

  • Experience with e-filing in Pennsylvania courts

  • Experience coordinating hearings, depositions, and deadlines

  • Legal research experience

  • Experience working with elderly clients or clients navigating stressful life events

Training and support

We are open to candidates who have a solid legal foundation and are ready to build deeper skills in areas such as:

  • Trust and probate drafting

  • Pennsylvania estate and guardianship procedures

  • firm-specific estate-planning software

  • office systems and workflows

Work conditions

  • This role is on site during the probationary period

  • If remote work is later added, you must have a quiet, private workspace for client calls

  • A Windows computer setup suitable for legal office work is strongly preferred

Hours and compensation

  • Up to 24 hours per week initially

  • Potential for increased hours and eventual full-time hybrid structure

  • Compensation starts at $20 per hour, with flexibility for exceptional relevant experience

  • Salary review after six months

  • Bi-monthly payroll

  • Potential access to benefits after three months or if the role becomes full time
