Job Description

We are looking for a Paralegal to join our team and provide support across a range of non-contentious shipping and maritime, banking and finance, and commercial matters. The role will involve assisting lawyers with transactional work, legal research, documentation and transaction coordination, with exposure to both local and international clients and counterparties.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers with non-contentious shipping and maritime matters, including vessel sale and purchase transactions.
- Provide support on banking and finance transactions, including the preparation and organisation of loan, security and related documents.
- Assist with the preparation, review and formatting of transactional, commercial and ancillary legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and assist with due diligence exercises in support of ongoing transactions.
- Assist in preparing corporate and transaction documents, including resolutions, undertakings, completion documents and other supporting materials.
- Coordinate with clients, banks, counterparties, foreign counsel and other transaction stakeholders under the direction of the supervising lawyer.
- Assist with transaction coordination and closing processes, including tracking documents, conditions precedent, signatures and other completion requirements.
- Maintain and organise transaction files, records and documentation to ensure matters are properly managed and up to date.
- Support lawyers in monitoring transaction timelines, deliverables and outstanding matters.
- Perform other legal and administrative tasks relating to assigned matters as required.
- Work closely with the legal team to ensure that assigned work is completed accurately, efficiently and within the required timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- Prior experience in shipping and maritime, banking and finance, commercial transactions or a related legal practice would be an advantage.
- Strong interest in transactional legal work, particularly in the areas of shipping, maritime and commercial matters.
- Strong legal research, drafting and document review skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to assist with the preparation, review and organisation of legal and transaction-related documentation.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work within deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with clients, banks, counterparties, foreign counsel and other stakeholders.
- Able to work effectively under the supervision of senior lawyers while also taking initiative in managing assigned tasks.
- Practical, organised and solutions-oriented, with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
