Description
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Paralegal in our Houston office. This position assists lawyers and non-attorney timekeepers with preparation of complex legal documents, mid-level legal research activities, and other tasks related to the Tax & ERISA practice group. Provides leadership in supporting firm, office, and team initiatives and in support of management directives.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Preparing Gift Tax Returns and Estate Tax Returns.
Keeping track of probate schedule, drafting the required documents for the attorney’s signature, and filing with the court.
Files and/or e-files documents with various governmental or other entities, as requested.
Actively participates in firm and team-sponsored training opportunities.
Generates revenue by meeting billable hour and other timekeeping expectations set forth by the firm. Maintains current and accurate daily time log; inputs time records into firm’s time and accounting systems according to firm and outside counsel guidelines. Accounts for complete workday.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred. Paralegal certificate, National Association of Legal Assistants certification, or specialty certificate provided by State helpful.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of paralegal or related business experience required; previous experience coordinating paralegal work or case clerks helpful. Experience in preparing Gift and Estate Tax Returns is beneficial.

Qualifications:
Intermediate knowledge and application of Federal, State, and Local Rules. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic technological and research skills necessary to pull requested documents from online resources and familiarity with legal technology and computer databases required. Ability to train other paralegals and work efficiently and accurately under pressure, and present a positive, professional image with colleagues, professional staff, and vendors.
Ability to work overtime or travel, as needed, on short notice essential. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading, and input (typing) of information into computer. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication.
