About the Role
We are seeking a diligent, detail-oriented, and experienced Paralegal to join our busy legal team. You will play a crucial role in supporting our team members by managing complex case files, conducting legal research, and ensuring the smooth operation of our daily practice.
The ideal candidate possesses strong organisational skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism. You will have the opportunity to work on substantive legal matters and gain exposure to Family Law, Wills, Probate and Immigration.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Maintain and organise case files, track deadlines, and manage our case management system.
- Drafting & Preparation: Assist in drafting legal correspondence, applications, briefs, attendance notes and witness statements.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough research on relevant statutes, judicial decisions, and legal articles using platforms like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, counsel, otherside and court personnel.
- Court Filings: Coordinate the filing of documents with clients, otherside and courts.
- Trial Support: Assist the team in trial preparation, including the organisation of exhibits and witness materials, and court bundles.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree – specifically an LLB Law Degree, Non-Law Degree – GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law, Post Graduate Diploma in Law, or vocational course)
- Experience: Minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software (e.g., Clio and Leap).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on precision and accuracy.
- Professionalism: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
