We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Paralegal leader to support our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will use their experience and organizational skills to prepare and maintain legal documents, file motions, interview clients, and conduct legal research. Responsibilities

Drafting and motion writing/discovery skills are heavily relied upon

Unlawful detainer experience is preferred but not required

Prepare templates for counsel for discovery, depositions, briefs, and other legal documents

Review records/discovery and testimony transcripts, and prepare summaries (strongly preferred)

Organize case filing systems to ensure documents are properly sorted and accessible

Assist lawyers in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, conducting legal research, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions

Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under lawyer guidance

Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers

Gather information about legal issues from clients through interviews

Qualifications

Required:

Extensive experience with motion writing and discovery in a busy law firm setting

Prior litigation paralegal experience in a busy law firm

Knowledge of administrative procedures, systems, and office procedures

Understanding of principles and processes for providing client services, including problem-solving

Proficiency with computer office programs, legal software, and telephones

Ability to make quick and accurate decisions in complex situations

Strong independent reasoning and problem-solving skills with limited oversight

Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines under pressure

Extremely detail-oriented and organized

Strong multitasking and time-management skills

Basic knowledge of CA procedural code

Preferred:

Experience with civil law, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, and government regulations

Experience applying Civil Procedure to legal issues

Reviewing records/discovery and testimony transcripts, and preparing summaries (preferred)

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

ABA-approved paralegal certificate or associate’s/bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies

Strong interpersonal, writing, and grammar skills

Compensation

$25 – $30 hourly DOE
