Job Purpose:
The Officer – Litigation supports the recovery of delinquent and non-performing accounts through legal proceedings and structured remedial strategies. He / She coordinates with external law firms, courts, and internal departments to handle litigation cases efficiently, while also engaging with customers to negotiate repayment plans, settlements, and restructurings. The Officer – Litigation aims to minimize credit losses, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and enhance recovery performance.
Key Accountabilities:
Supports legal case handling by coordinating with law firms, courts, and authorities under the supervision of the line manager.
Prepares legal documents such as notices, POAs, and case files in line with policy.
Follows up on delinquent accounts and negotiates repayments, restructuring, or settlements.
Maintains accurate records of legal and recovery actions in systems and trackers.
Ensures compliance with regulatory and internal procedures in all recovery activities.
Collaborates with internal departments and stakeholders for smooth case resolution and recovery execution.
Generates and submits reports on litigation and recovery performance to the management under the supervision of the line manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Law.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Remedial & Collection or Legal Affairs department within a bank, having performed a similar role is preferred.
Proven experience in a similar role within the banking or financial sector.
