This is a pivotal role supporting multiple Magistrate Judges in juvenile and child protection cases, where your integrity, legal knowledge, and organizational precision will make a difference every day.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Provide full clerical and administrative support to multiple rotating Magistrate Judges handling juvenile and child protection cases.
Coordinate court calendars, schedule hearings, and manage daily workflows in a high-volume, emotionally sensitive environment.
Serve as a courtroom clerk: prepare for and record proceedings, distribute court documents, and handle case follow-ups.
Draft, edit, and process legal and administrative orders and correspondence.
Respond to public, attorney, law enforcement, and internal inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive legal records and personal information in accordance with Idaho law.
Monitor case timelines, purge and archive files, and assist in inter-agency records retrieval for criminal and child welfare matters.
Act as a representative of the court in your conduct, demeanor, and communications.

Do You Have What It Takes:

Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED, plus one year of secretarial/paralegal training and at least 4 years of court-related experience (2 as a Court Services Float Clerk or similar). Equivalent combinations may be considered.
Legal Expertise: Strong grasp of legal terminology, court procedures, and Idaho judicial processes. Ability to draft court documents with precision and clarity.
Administrative Skill: Exceptional attention to detail, multitasking ability, and experience handling complex case data and legal filing systems.
People Skills: Poise in emotionally charged situations, professionalism in dealing with a wide range of individuals (judges, attorneys, the public, law enforcement), and excellent communication skills.
Tech Proficiency: Competence with court systems, databases, and digital recordkeeping tools.

Beyond The Basics:

Must maintain high ethical standards and discretion with confidential information.
Will be required to attend Idaho Institute of Court Management (IICM) and other mandatory training programs as offered.
Knowledge of Idaho Code and court retention rules preferred, not required.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable, with the ability to travel to hospitals, the Public Safety Building, and other remote court locations as needed.
