General Summary:
Oversee the daily operations of SBM’s Michigan Litigation Assistance Partnership Program (MI- LAPP), providing administrative support for the Justice Initiatives Counsel, the Justice Initiatives Committee, and the Affordable Legal Services Committee. This role involves handling clerical functions, responding to inquiries, and maintaining program data and documents. This position also provides limited administrative support to the Representative Assembly and Communications Department. Cover letter is required for candidate consideration. Principal Responsibilities:
Assist in overseeing the daily operations of MI-LAPP programs, including the Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) Pro Bono Program, Tax Pro Bono Program, Patent Pro Bono Project, and Malpractice Insurance Coverage for Pro Bono Program.
Maintain the MI-LAPP case management system, including data entry, case tracking, report generation, quarterly status updates, and filing organization.
Facilitate case placement and tracking by coordinating with participating attorneys.
Assist the Justice Initiatives Counsel in fostering relationships with law firms, legal aid programs, law school clinics, bar associations, community organizations, national partners, and other stakeholders.
Manage the team’s Zoom account, scheduling and hosting meetings, trainings, workshops, and webinars.
Assist the Justice Initiatives Counsel with event planning, meeting coordination, promotional materials, meeting minutes, summaries, contact lists, and projects related to the Justice Initiatives Committee and the Affordable Legal Services Committee, including their subcommittees and workgroups.
Assist with special projects, research, and data compilation as needed.
Representative Assembly support: monthly membership updates, meeting minutes/notes, RA summary of proceedings, and transcript.
Communications Department support: general administrative support, as well as specific needs related to the Michigan Bar Journal.
Minimum Position Guidelines (Education, Experience, Knowledge Skills, and Abilities):
Associate degree or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience in a legal environment preferred.
Excellent organization skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in office procedures, including word processing, file management, and administrative support.
Demonstrated interest in public service.
High level of accuracy, strong proofreading skills, and a commitment to timeliness and reliability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with team members, staff, and stakeholders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
