Position Summary
As a Commercial Reader at WWLT-NY, you’ll play a critical role in the title process—examining title searches, reviewing complex documents, and preparing clear, accurate title commitments for commercial transactions. New York file experience is required—you’ll be a go-to resource for our team when it comes to navigating the unique requirements of New York commercial deals.
What You’ll Do
Examine commercial title searches with a primary focus on New York transactions.
Review and analyze legal documents, surveys, maps, and plats to ensure clarity and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare title commitments and highlight matters of title in a detailed and professional manner.
Communicate and coordinate with attorneys, lenders, realtors, and internal teams to move deals forward.
Use title software to load commitments and update systems efficiently and accurately.
Draft and distribute cover letters summarizing title issues.
Provide insight and guidance to the Examinations team, especially regarding NY title standards and practices.
Maintain strong relationships with underwriting counsel and support title operations through research and follow-up.
What You’ll Bring
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
3-5+ years of experience in commercial title examination/reading, with specific and recent experience on New York files (required).
Familiarity with title production systems—SoftPro experience is a plus.
Solid understanding of title insurance principles, especially as they apply in NY.
Exceptional communication skills and customer-focused mindset.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Tech-savvy with solid Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn new systems.
A collaborative spirit and a love for digging into the details.
