Unlike a general legal role, this position offers the opportunity to specialise in one dedicated area of tax law, working alongside industry-leading experts and advising on complex local and international matters.
Successful candidates will be placed within one of the following specialist divisions:
- Employment Tax
- Value-Added Tax (VAT)
- International Tax
- Tax Advisory & Transactions
- Exchange Control
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review tax opinions, submissions, and legal arguments
- Engage with SARS on audits, verifications, objections, and appeals
- Work on complex advisory and structuring matters
- Interpret and apply tax legislation to real commercial scenarios
- Collaborate with tax specialists, accountants, and senior advisors
- Prepare and review legal documentation relating to complex tax matters.
- Engage with regulatory authorities where required.
- Interpret and apply legislation to practical client scenarios.
- Collaborate with tax specialists, accountants, and senior legal professionals.
- Stay abreast of legislative developments and emerging tax issues within your area of specialisation.
- Contribute to technical discussions, client solutions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Conduct legal research and analyse complex tax legislation, regulations, and case law.

- Admitted attorney
- Clear interest in tax (formal tax exposure advantageous but not required)
- Comfortable in a high-performance, accountability-driven environment
- Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
